The Blank Page and How to Face It!
Art Challenge: Under Paper (paper on your work table that gets all inky while you work)
Journal Prompt: What Lies Beneath?
This weeks challenge was under paper. Since I spend most of my day using watercolor I don’t have under paper, but rather paper towels that I use to wipe my brush and then toss at the end of the day. So for a few days I saved my used paper towels, letting them dry out.
I glued large pieces to my blank page and then added acrylic paint on top of it. I tried to let the watercolor marks from the paper towel show through.
Areas that had a lot of color I used as my banner flags. I taped down a thin piece of twine with washi tape and then covered the whole thing with modge podge to keep the twin in place. I then glued down the banner flags.
I took old newspaper and cut out houses and used graphite pencil over top for the doors, windows and shading.
I also used gesso ion areas to lighten the color. I did this around the houses and around the banner flags.
Finishing touches included stamps and gelato crayons to fill in them in. Then I added a cut out of the word/definition of destiny.
